Facade Grant Committee
The Facade Grant Committee is responsible for the streetscape of Downtown Selinsgrove. Recent facade grants funds have been provided by proceeds from the annual Hops, Vines and Wines festival and other SPI events. These improvements help to enhance the aesthetics of our lovely downtown. The applications are submitted to the Facade Grant Committee, who review the application and score them based on several key factors. Examples of past improvements include: Isabella and Bella’s Pizza. In 2018 and 2019, the SPI Board of Directors approved the use of funds earned from the Hops Vines and Wines festival as well as other SPI events to provide additional facade grants to downtown businesses. Several projects are currently underway and will be completed before the end of 2019.
Selinsgrove Projects, Inc. also teamed up with Uniquely Sakura to make improvements to the Snyder County Trust clock located outside of First National Bank. In 2018, the SPI Board of Directors, along with assistance from the Rudy Gelnett Trust, set aside funds to complete renovations to the Snyder County Trust Trust clock. The clock was dismantled and shipped to Verdin Clock Company in Cincinnati Ohio for further restoration. Improvements to the clock are complete and a celebration was held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 to welcome the restored clock back to Selinsgrove. With the return of the clock, a new mascot, Grover McClintock was designed by SU student, Caitlin Meleski.
